Is dune bashing safe?
Dune bashing is an adventure ride, so it is not risk-free and may not suit every guest. The route and ride intensity can vary with the vehicle, driver, dunes and conditions. Choose a tour with a trained desert driver, wear the seat belt and follow the safety briefing.
Share important needs before booking
Tell the booking team about any health concern, recent surgery, back or heart condition, mobility need or pregnancy before you confirm. The site's FAQ says dune bashing is generally not advised during pregnancy. If you are unsure whether a bumpy ride is right for you, speak with a qualified health professional and ask the operator about a calmer or non-dune option.
Questions to ask the operator
- Who drives the 4x4 and what safety briefing is given?
- Can the route be adjusted for this package?
- Is there a non-dune transfer or direct camp option?
- What is the plan for children or guests with mobility needs?
- What should you do if you feel unwell during the ride?
Do not assume every package offers the same alternative. Get the answer for your date in writing.
During the ride
Keep your seat belt fastened, stay seated and follow the driver's instructions. Secure loose items before the vehicle moves. If you have a concern, tell the booking team before departure rather than waiting until the 4x4 is in the dunes.
Read the [Dubai desert safari FAQ](/faq) and the [planning guide](/dubai-desert-safari-guide). They explain what can vary and why your tour confirmation matters.
